Influencers giving advice

… it gives me the ick.

Recently, a particular influencer has me bursting with anger. She >thinks< because she’s been a bikini competitor for 10 months that she knows everything. People are stupidly asking her questions she is not at all qualified to answer. On top of it, she filters every damn video and photo of herself - and it’s all inconsistently filtered, too.

Last week, someone asked about whether she should be in a maintenance or cut phase. Without asking any questions, she said a caloric deficit.

Ok, before you give advice, you need to ask questions. For example:

  • What are your current calories?

  • Have you lost weight the last 12 months? If so, how much?

  • What is your current routine in terms of physical activity?

  • Have you been in a deficit? and are you sure?

  • Do you track calories?

If you don’t find out the answers, you could tell someone eating 1500 calories a day to go into a deficit and they won’t have the calories they need for the 5 days of running and 4 days of strength training per week, and 5 hours of sleep every night.

If you don’t coach people… and if you don’t have certain credentials or licenses, BACK OFF. You have NO RIGHT to give advice just because you have been competing since December.

If you want help, find a GOOD COACH or a registered dietician. They will really get you on track to being successful in your journey. Don’t listen to bimbos on the internet… please.
